This forum traces the continuum of cardiovascular innovation, from early breakthroughs in heart transplantation to modern advances in cardiac MRI, highlighting their impact on understanding and managing heart disease in Africa. It describes how locally engineered, low-cost MRI technologies can improve accessibility, sustainability, and clinical utility of imaging in resource-limited settings; and explores how Africa is overcoming limited MRI infrastructure and workforce constraints through innovation, training and collaboration to expand clinical capability and improve patient outcomes.
